A Brand New Baby Grand Piano from Yamaha.

Yamaha has completely redesigned the 5 foot Baby Grand Piano.

Production has shifted back to Japan, The middle pedal has been updated to a Sostenuto, A new music desk and a Beveled bottom.

The GCB Frame or Harp is made in house by Yamaha at the state-of-the-art Iwata Foundry in Japan.  The V-Pro Frame or Harp is proprietary to Yamaha and creates a foundation that supports over 220 strings and helps ensure tuning stability, rich harmonics and even temperament.

The GCB Piano Action is made entirely in house by Yamaha.  Each wooden part is to such exacting standards that the tolerance for deviation is .05mm.

This precision engineering gives the player fluid control, a pleasing graded piano action and allows for parts to be switched out with ease over the 50 plus year lifetime of the piano.

Once the Piano Action is assembled Yamaha’s expert Piano Technicians go over and regulate the mechanical action components to give an even feel to the keyboard and allowing a wide tonal range to be achieved with only 10mm of key travel.  Pictured above a technician is Pinning the hammer above the strike point to allow the hammer to make a warmer, deeper sound.

The Yamaha GCB baby grand piano features  88 hammers designed specifically by Yamaha for the Scale of this instrument.

The styling on the New Yamaha GCB Baby Grand Piano brings this 5 foot baby grand into the same palette as the World Famous Yamaha Gc1 and Gc2 Baby Grand Pianos.  The bottom of the key slip features a handsome beveled edge, modern straight piano legs and a music desk that is adjustable on Pitch and Horizontally!
