Pianos of Princeton is an authorized Yamaha dealer, and Yamaha is the only new acoustic piano we sell. Five series, from the 43-inch B1 to the 52-inch YUS5.
The b Series is the accessible entry point. The P Series and Gallery Collection are built for schools, churches, and institutions. The U Series and YUS Series are made in Japan to the same standards as Yamaha’s grand pianos, and the U1 is the best-selling upright piano in the world.
Which height you need comes down to who is playing. A piano 45 inches and under suits a beginner through intermediate player. An upright from 48 to 52 inches, the U1, U3, YUS1, YUS3, or YUS5, is the right choice for an intermediate to advanced player or a committed student, because the longer strings and larger soundboard give you more tone to work with.
New Yamaha upright piano prices run from $5,699 for the B1 to $29,099 for the YUS5.
The b Series is where a century of Yamaha craftsmanship meets everyday playability. Compact and elegantly designed, these pianos deliver a responsive touch and clear, resonant tone that makes every practice session a pleasure. Whether you’re sitting down at a piano for the first time or returning to one after years away, the b Series meets you exactly where you are — and inspires you to go further.
For more than fifty years, the U Series has earned its place as the world’s most popular upright piano — and for good reason. These instruments are beloved by professional musicians, conservatories, and dedicated students alike for their precise, ultra-responsive touch and clear, full-bodied tone. Built with Yamaha’s legendary attention to detail, a U Series piano is an investment in a lifetime of music.

The Yamaha Silent upright is a true acoustic piano with an integrated digital system built in. Lower the mute bar and the hammers stop short of the strings, so high-fidelity Yamaha samples play through your headphones with the full weight of the acoustic action under your fingers. Practice at any hour, then raise the bar and the same instrument is a pure acoustic upright again. Available on the U1, U3, YUS1, YUS3, and YUS5.
The TransAcoustic upright turns the soundboard itself into the speaker. Transducers mounted to the spruce soundboard let you blend digital voices into the natural acoustic tone, so you feel the sound resonate through the body of the piano rather than hearing it from a separate speaker. Adjust the acoustic volume freely, and layer in a concert grand voice, strings, or harpsichord without losing touch or tone. Offered on the U1, U3, YUS1, YUS3, and YUS5.
The Disklavier upright is a fully acoustic Yamaha fitted with the Enspire reproducing system. The keys and pedals move on their own, performing recorded music with the nuance of a live pianist, and the system captures what you play for note-perfect playback. Stream thousands of Yamaha performances or play silently through headphones, all on a genuine acoustic upright. Offered on the U1, YUS1, and YUS5.

Yamaha awarded Pianos of Princeton the 2018 Small Market Dealer of the Year. Every new acoustic piano on our floor is a Yamaha, and we carry all five upright series so you can compare them in one visit rather than across three showrooms.
Which height do you need? An upright of 45 inches or under suits a beginner through intermediate player. From 48 to 52 inches is the right choice for an intermediate to advanced player or a committed student, because the longer strings and larger soundboard give you more tone to work with.
How to judge one. Play the same passage on two or three pianos back to back. Pay attention to the keys first, whether the weight feels right under your hand, then to the tone. The only correct piano tone is the one that pleases your ear and feels good under your fingers, which is why we would rather you came and played than read a spec sheet.
Any of these can be ordered with factory-installed technology, covered in the section above. If a pre-owned instrument is the better fit, our used piano inventory changes constantly, and every instrument is prepared by our own technician before it goes on the floor.
