The YUS Series is the top of Yamaha’s upright range: three models, the YUS1, the YUS3, and the YUS5. All three carry CFX concert grand hammer felt, a more rigorous action regulation than the U Series, and a modern cabinet aesthetic. This is the range for the professional musician and the genuinely dedicated student.
The YUS1 is the entry to the series and the natural step up from a U1. The same CFX concert grand hammer felt, a more exacting action regulation, and a refined cabinet give it a wider dynamic range and a faster response. Available in five finishes: polished ebony, polished mahogany, polished white, satin American walnut, and satin ebony.
The YUS3 is the taller YUS. The added soundboard area and string length give it noticeably more power and low-end depth than the YUS1, without changing the character of the series, and it is the upright that holds its own in a recital room. Available in polished ebony, polished mahogany, polished white, and satin American walnut.
The YUS5 is the flagship Yamaha upright, carrying the series’ concert-grand hammer felt and regulation with the most refined cabinet and voicing in the line. Unlike the rest of the range it is specified with a sostenuto pedal rather than a practice mute, so for a player who wants grand piano behavior in an upright footprint this is as close as Yamaha builds.
