Product Description
The Yamaha CFX is the flagship concert grand — a nine-foot instrument built entirely by hand in the Concert Grand Workshop and shaped over more than a decade through collaboration with the world’s most acclaimed pianists. The 2022 redesign introduced Yamaha’s Unibody Concept, bringing together a newly engineered rim, back posts treated with Yamaha’s proprietary wood-aging process to produce the open resonance of a seasoned instrument from day one, and a refined soundboard crown — all designed to minimize any gap between what a pianist intends and what the audience hears. Every CFX frame is individually sand cast at the Yamaha factory in Iwata, Japan; the hammers are formed from hand-selected German felt on walnut shanks; and the bass strings are hand-wound in pure copper. A perforated music rack — a first for any Yamaha concert grand — allows sound to travel naturally to the performer during rehearsal with sheet music. The lid carries a matte finish unique to the CFX, designed specifically to eliminate reflected glare on orchestral musicians. Ivorite white keys and high-grade ebony black keys complete an instrument built for any stage, any hall, and any moment.
